History

Origins
HTZ was the first commercial software dedicated to radio network planning. It was created in 1988 in Paris.


Dispersion
Once the benefits of the software were acknowledged, distributors were eager to sell it both in France and elsewhere.


Energy of the source
Encouraged by the level of sales, the software creators established their own company, launching ATDI in April 1991 in Paris. The company continued to develop software solution HTZ (radio planning, technical spectrum management, electronic warfare) and ICS (radio planning, spectrum management, digital cartography). The co-authors of ICS join ATDI between 1992 and 1993.


Power of the signal
Being in constant development allows ATDI to innovate and develop. In 1991 ATDI participated together with Thomson-CSF in the concept and realization of the first Radio Frequency Spectrum Management and Control System. In 1992 ATDI took part in the development of the first French drone system created for STAT. At the end of 1994, in collaboration with Jacques Deygout, ATDI integrated in HTZ a new version of the diffraction model which gives unrivalled precision to the calculations, no matter what the resolution of the DTM, frequencies used (VHF/UHF/SHF & EHF), and number of obstacles.  In 1997, the Monte-Carlo module of HTZ offers more than 30 parameters. It will be used for the first time for the prospective analysis of compatibility of Teledesic and Skybridge systems.


ATDI Spectrum Management and Engineering Software have been chosen for Sotchi winter games, World Cup 2014, Olympic games 2016…

Speed of propagation
Originally focused on broadcast (with Thomson-LGT, CLT), PMR and radio telephony (Matra, Sofrecom), ATDI later extended to electronic warfare and tactical communications (Thomson-CSF, ERGE), spectrum management (Tadiran, Bakom) and microwave networks (Marine nationale française).


Today, ATDI offers its software solutions to all sectors of radio communications both civilian and military (CEW, UAV, SAT, LTE, UMTS, TETRA, DMR, MW, PAGING, AMR, MLAT, DME, ILS, VOR, FM, TVA, TVD, DAB, PMRA, BWA, WIFI, WIMAX, GSM, GSM-R, HF…).


Radiation
In 1996, taking advantage of the discussions about acquiring Thomson-CSF by Lagardère group, ATDI buys SM/EW division of Thomson-MEL in Crawley (UK). This will become ATDI’s first office outside France. Afterwards, ATDI opens offices in USA, Spain, Russia, Australia, Ukraine, Poland, India and Singapore.


In 2012, ATDI chooses a new form of products and services distribution – implementation of direct and indirect network of sales in Europe, Asia and Africa by agents, distributors and Certified Partners.


Signal reception
Today ATDI counts more than 2000 customers since the creation of the company and more than 21 new versions of ATDI software solutions have been released all over the world in that time. ATDI is among the leaders of the world market of all-in-one solutions for radio network planning and spectrum management and is an undisputed leader in electronic warfare and tactical communications field.

CHARITY

ATDI makes contributions both individually and corporately. As a company, its donations of sleeping bags and wind-up radios to rough sleepers have brought both life-saving warmth and a source of entertainment to people who would otherwise have none.


Individually, technical director Nick Kirkman has been given the Royal Yachting Association Lifetime Commitment Award for his 20 years of teaching children to sail on the Hampshire coast. Lead engineer Simon Parsons makes his contribution to the UK’s cultural life through his volunteer work as an archaeological geophysicist who has found Iron Age and Roman farmsteads and a Saxon iron working settlement around his home village in Cambridgeshire. ATDI work with local charities to identify and distribute need within the community.
